The self-assessment Essay is a statement specifying: (1) reasons for seeking graduate education in homeland security, the ways your background and experience flow logically toward such an endeavor; what you believe will be your future contributions to homeland security.
My background:
Driven by challenges and committed to excellence, I can align and harmonize involved parties to achieve mission assignments. My experience has not only developed my ability to be resilient and adaptable to ever-changing situations but has also taught me how to manage resources effectively and drive for positive operational results through the leadership of engaged and productive employees.
My educational background includes an MBA & Master’s in Healthcare Administration from Shepherd University in West Virginia. In addition, I have a Bachelor in Psychology and Nursing studies. I have received many other certifications throughout my career, such as the Certified Behavioral Preventive Strategies Instructor & De-escalation Methods and Techniques, Geriatric Nursing Assistant, Certified medication Technician, and Certified Remote Pilot (FAA).
I have worked in both Government funded facilities and the non-profit sector, assessing and mitigating crisis events, developing and managing programmatic needs and/or associates to improve the quality of service while also overseeing operational functionalities through all aspects of day-to-day tactical operations and strategic growth. Furthermore, I have two years of experience working as Operations Task Force Lead with the National Incident Management Assistant Team (NIMAT) White (deployed to Louisiana DR-4611 LA) and the National Incident Management Assistant Team (NIMAT) Blue (deployed to Florida DR-4673 FL).
I am trilingual (English, French, Spanish) and enjoy learning about others’ cultures. When I am not working, you can find me at the closest field, either playing or coaching soccer.
As some of my most significant achievements, I led and oversaw the construction, formulation of the operating budget, recruitment, training, and execution of the grand opening for a new Urgent Care & Occupational Health clinic at the Rutherford Crossing location.
Additionally, I developed a routine to promote culture cohesiveness and employee engagement by implementing a two-way open feedback model with staff to discuss performance and personal goals, increasing employee engagement scores yearly. Finally, while deployed with NIMAT Blue this year, I created and managed a live tracker to gather information for improvement planning (e.g., after-action reports, hot washes, and operational reviews) and provide input on improving service delivery.Driven by challenges and committed to excellence, I can align and harmonize involved parties to achieve mission assignments.
