Essay Question and Topic: Global Human Rights for Groups of People:
In the last few weeks, we have examined global human rights issues for four specific groups of people:
Refugees
Indigenous People
Dr. Kimberly Crenshaw has developed the concept of intersectionality with respect to gender and race but the concept can be expanded to include other characteristics (age, sexual identity, sexual orientation, political status, etc).
Of the two groups of people listed, discuss the ways in which intersectionality influences protecting and promoting the rights of those
people. Specifically, what are the key issues or problems for ensuring both civic/political and economic/social/cultural rights for them? How might those issues or problems be addressed or resolved, given the complexities of intersectionality? Be sure to include specific details from various required course materials.
