STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education and instruction in the classroom should incorporate all components of STEM. In order to do that, teachers must be able to understand each subject matter of STEM and how each element work together to create effective and engaging learning experiences.
Part 1: STEM Learning
For this assignment, utilize the resources located in the topic Resources or research two videos of STEM instruction in K-8 classrooms. Use “STEM in the Classroom” to create a graphic organizer that highlights each area of STEM in the learning activity. If a component of STEM is not included in the learning activity, make note of it.
For each video, include:
Grade level, description of learning activity, and link to the video.
Description of the science portion of the learning activity and why this is an important component of the learning activity.
Description of the technology aspect of the learning activity and why this is an important component of the learning activity.
Description of the engineering portion of the learning activity and why this is an important component of the learning activity.
Description of the mathematics portion of the learning activity and why this is an important component of the learning activity.
Part 2: Reflection
In 250-500 words, summarize and reflect on the importance of including all components of STEM when completing a learning activity or project. There will be times when the four components of STEM are not incorporated in a learning activity/project, so how will you add to future assignments to make sure all components of STEM are present in your future classroom? Explain the significance of the engineering design process and the advancements of technology and the implications in the classroom.
Support your findings with at least two scholarly resources.
