OVERVIEW
The key to improving the nursing profession is through the improvement of each individual nurse’s
practice through the use of theory and research. This assignment will allow you to apply nursing
theory to your personal practice and consider how theory and research impact patient outcomes. You
will also create a plan of action to improve your practice with insight from a chosen nursing theory
and the literature you review.
INSTRUCTIONS
Review your presentations, websites, and articles from the previous modules/weeks in this
course. (I can provide it if needed.)
Review your Nursing Theory Impacting the Profession Paper from Module/Week 3. (I have attached last week’s paper)
Review current literature on how evidence-based practice is impacting your practice.
Choose the Agape Nursing Theory you have studied and apply it to your personal practice. (My personal practice is in interventional cardiac, but any relation to cardiac nursing is acceptable.)

Why did you choose this theory?
Connect the Nursing Metaparadigms (Nurse, Patient, Environment, Healthcare) to
your practice.
Consider your personal practice. Apply your chosen nursing theory to one aspect of your
practice. (I am fascinated by the interventions and science we use to heal and save the lives of people that suffer from heart attacks and cardiac comorbidities.)
Create a plan of action to improve your personal practice by applying the theoretical concepts
to your practice. Remember to focus on the holistic care of your patient.

Create SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) goals to improve your practice

Requirements: A successful presentation will include:
Slides will be clean and visually appealing, with minimal words on the PowerPoint slide.
Typically, a bullet point list or catchphrase is enough.
Narrative comments written in current APA 7th ed. formatting must be in each slide’s speaker notes.
Notes must be detailed and include current research and personal examples in interventional cardiac care. The expectation is
that ALL required information is presented in detail with ample research and personal
examples included. The word count is a minimum of 250 per slide.
A title and reference slide in current APA formatting is required
You must use a minimum of 5 references
Less than 5 years old
