There are two separate discussion this week; one for action research students, and one for data-based implementation students, please choose based on the project you are completing.
Action Research Students: Discuss the IRB and importance/relevancy of the IRB to all research. Compare and contrast the three types of applications for the IRB. You will most likely be doing an Exempt study, therefore discuss why this application format is most appropriate for your study?
Project students: What ethical decisions may you have to make as a leader, when implementing your potential plan to improve data or the situation in the environment you are building this plan for?

Welcome to Week 6!
For the action research students, this week involves the formal development/process and submission of the IRB application and the supporting documents required for the ARP study. You are welcome to review the IRB course which is located under the “My Organizations” section of your blackboard homepage. In the course you will find helpful videos, frequently asked questions and the actual IRB application.
DO NOT SUBMIT ANY DOCUMENTS IN THE IRB COURSE.
Please note that the IRB procedure requires the course professor to submit all documents to the IRB Committee. No applications will be approved and submitted to the IRB Committee unless correctly completed and accompanied with additional supporting documentation. The IRB Committee is the final approval that must be received PRIOR to implementing your action research study. CERTIFICATION MUST BE OBTAINED PRIOR TO ANY RESEARCH BEING DONE BY THE INVESTIGATOR. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THIS GUIDANCE IS A VIOLATION OF FEDERAL LAW. IT MAY RESULT IN THE INVESTIGATOR’S RESEARCH BEING DISQUALIFIED, AND MAY RESULT IN OTHER DISCIPLINARY CONSEQUENCES.
Data-based implementation students will begin creating the improvement plan template and planning steps for the intervention.
