Purpose: Defend a position on an ethical issue by articulating the reasons and evidence supporting that position. Use appropriate grammar and punctuation, including citations and references, expected of an academic or professional-level student.
Structure and Format:
3 to 4 pages in length (Title Page and Reference Page is not included in the page count)
12 Point Font, Times New Roman, APA 7th Edition formatting for entirety of paper
Minimum of 3 References to support your claims
Grammar will be graded (view grading rubric in Blackboard) – pages should be uploaded to Grammarly and a Grammarly report score uploaded as part of the assignment.
Use the following steps to assist you in structuring your paper (although you should not write the
essay as just answers to the series of questions below). Your essay should have a clearly articulated
thesis and effective claim statements for paragraph topic sentences in which you develop your position.
• What is the ethical issue or problem related to health care professions (public health is a wide-ranging field)? Describe the issue and why it is an ethical dilemma. (1-2 paragraph)
• Present an argument for those who support the health care issue and those who are opposed to the health care issue. Be sure to include the critical facts related to the issue? Do not rely solely on opinion. This is where citations are crucial. (3 to 4 paragraphs)
• What are possible solutions/actions/responses that could lead to a compromise? If there can be no compromise, explain. (1-2 paragraphs)
• Who are the major stakeholders and how will the public or future patients, employees, or employers be affected by decisions related to the chosen health-related issue? (1 paragraph-may be addressed in previous question)
• Use Badaracco’s Framework to help you draw a conclusion. Which side do you choose on your topic of choice and why. Be sure to address the steps in Badaracco’s Framework when discussing your decision. (1 to 2 paragraphs)
