For this assignment, identify TWO examples of media coverage of the same news item, one from a commercial news outlet (e.g. MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, the New York Times) and one from a not-for-profit news outlet (e.g. PBS, NPR, Pacifica, Democracy Now). Read, watch or listen to each news piece carefully. What do you notice about how their coverage compares? How would you characterize each type of journalism (objective, investigative, public, etc)?
