This essay should be based off the novel “The Scarlet Letter” Second Edition, by Nathanial Hawthorne. Note that there is a introductory before the actual start of the book.
Proffessor Instructions: Compare and contrast the ways that Hester and Arthur are haunted by their past and what the novel is trying to show about guilt, shame, crime, and punishment. (Don’t forget Pearl in this!) You are not allowed to use secondary sources (summaries, analyses, or interpretations of the stories in print or online). If you need to look up allusions, historical information, or other specific references in the story, be sure to quote and paraphrase properly and cite your sources. Also, all quotes should be directly from the book.
