4. Using the DRUG COMPARISON template below (chart 2), compare the drug options in the chosen classification.
5. Choose the P-drug you think will best suit the patient.
a. Define the drug, dosage, route, frequency, and specific instructions (i.e., take with food, take on an empty stomach; conditions where the drug should be withheld, etc.).
b. Choose a standard duration of treatment.
c. Include specific follow-up needed (for example, check TSH after 3 months, check liver function with prolonged therapy).
6. Briefly discuss the rationale for choosing this drug and identify the clinical guideline, clinical trial, or research study that supports your decision.
