3-4 pages, not including Title or References pages
You have joined an organization in a management HR position. Employees recently
conducted a successful campaign for unionization and the organization is now subject to union representation and a negotiated CBA is in place. You have been asked by your HR supervisor to write a memo to management and supervisors advising them of new expectations for management in the now unionized environment. Your memo must
address the following:
A. What are the major differences, from the organization’s
perspective, in operating in a union-free environment versus a unionized environment?
What will change for management? (Please present and discuss at least three
differences.)
B. In the new unionized workplace, discuss at least two NLRA legal rights or
prohibitions of each of the following:
*Management
*Employees
*Union Representative
C. What is the potential impact of unionization on the following administrative functions? (How will the new CBA potentially
impact each of the following management/supervisory functions.) Provide at least one specific example for each area.
*Performance Management/Evaluation of Employees
*Employee Discipline
*Job Security
*Wages and Benefits
*Health and Safety
D. In addition to the increased costs of wages and benefits
for union employees, what are additional increased costs the organization may expect to incur due to unionization? Provide at
least three examples.

*Visualize providing a brief workshop to management following Board and Union
adoption of the CBA. Consider how their functions will change.
In writing a memo one must clearly identify the objective of the memo. When you receive a memo “from the boss” you consider questions such as:
Why am I receiving this, What is being required of me? These questions must be answered right up front. Tell the
recipients who you are and why they are receiving this memo.
Create a name for your organization.
