We will not be studying whether her actions were illegal, that has already been proven. Rather let’s look at the ethical standpoint.
When grading, I will be looking for the following:
First:
Ethics begins with each of one us. How were personal ethics shown or not shown in this case?
Reflect and share how those involved may have been impacted.
Imagine being a customer using her product. What would be a benefit of using her product? How could you be misled by using this product?
Imagine being an employee. Why did some employees continue to work within her company? Why did employees not speak up?
Imagine being a potential investor, business, or board member who bought into her product. Can you identify steps that could have been taken in order to prevent the fall out? How would you feel after finding out the truth?
Second: Ethics begins with each one of us. Also, ethics are not always black and white. Let’s now leave the Theranos situation and look every day life. Chapter 4 referred to three questions to consider when facing an ethical dilemma. Share an example of an ethical situation that could be considered “gray” and answer the questions below.
List the situation
Reflect on how you would respond to each of the three questions from Chapter 4
Criteria:
Your assignment is to submit a 1-2 page, double spaced write up, on the ethics of Elizabeth Holmes and the business antics of Theranos.
All papers submitted for Turnitin will not have a higher percentage than 20% on the originality report.
Reminder: You have until the due date to rework your assignment in which to bring it to 20% or less in similarity. MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE YOUR NAME AND COURSE NUMBER.
