Discussion 1
There are key situations/circumstances where you are mandated to break confidentiality. These are referred to as the exceptions to confidentiality and fall under mandated reporting duties. We present this information to clients as part of our informed consent as dictated by our laws and ethics.
One exception to confidentiality is when we suspect a client to be a threat to themselves or another identifiable person. This is commonly referred to as the duty to protect and/or warn (the exact language depends on your local regulations).
Describe your understanding of duty to warn/protect in your own words based on what your local laws and regulations indicate your responsibility is in this area (include a link to the regulations you found, if applicable).
Another exception to confidentiality involves instances of abuse and/or neglect.
What are your mandated reporting responsibilities according to your local rules & regulations for children, dependent (or vulnerable) adults, and elders? What is the process you will need to follow for your mandated reporting duties (summarize indicating things like time to report, method of reporting, where you report, and penalties for not reporting, etc.).

How do you feel about carrying out these duties?
