SPECIAL PROJECT deadline date in D2L April 19, 2023, 11:59PM 100 points
Each student will examine the U.S. Patriot Act of 2001 including updates (reauthorizations/new laws/) and explain the conflict with the American public’s view of civil liberties? Students are to explain the alleged crossroads and/or violations to human rights and civil liberties, if any; alleged violations to at least four (4) Amendments to the Bill of Rights and at least four (4) US Supreme Court cases regarding alleged violations of those Amendments. The below are basic parameters, to include, yet NOT LIMITED TO:
What is the premise of each case;
Described the alleged constitutional violations;
Why is this case’s significance on the electorate;
What are the proponents and opponents’ arguments for this case;
What, if any, are the disparate/discriminatory/unintended consequences considered in this case;
What are potential impacts of the case on other individuals – besides the plaintiff(s);
How does or if the Patriot Act impact hate crimes and or domestic terrorism
What rational and reasonable recommendations you (the student) can suggest that balances safety and security with the protections of civil rights and civil liberties.
Be sure to include a detailed justification for your recommendation.
The Special Project should be a minimum of seven (7) yet no more than fifteen (15) content pages, not including the title page and reference page.
