Throughout this course, assignments will be provided for each module that will ask you to analyze, apply, or evaluate some aspect of the course content in a divergent manner compared to multiple-choice assessments.
For this first assignment, we are going to delve into the world of RESEARCH! Please choose any issue relevant to lifespan development and design a study that could address that issue. You do not actually have to conduct the study – this is just a hypothetical! Examples might include topics like “How does cell phone usage impact adolescent sleep?” or “Do adults with a mentor experience more success in the workplace?” Here are some questions to answer with your study:
Who will you study (i.e., who is in your sample)? How will you get your sample to participate? How will you protect them from unnecessary risk? What variables will you examine? What is your hypothesis? When in the lifespan will you assess your participants (what age or event)? Where will your study take place? How will you do it (i.e., what is the method and procedure)?
Try to describe as many components of the research as you can. After crafting your post, please reply to the posts of 2 classmates!
A short response of approximately 2-3 paragraphs should be provided. References to material other than the class notes or textbook are not required unless specified (i.e., you do not need to review any literature, or incorporate any outside research). In addition, you do not need to use any particular style (such as APA) when providing your answers. Attention to spelling and grammar is important so that your answers are comprehensible.
