include specific evidence and/or relevant examples of your points and specific references to
concepts or readings whenever possible. Be thorough yet clear and concise. Between 1 and 2
pages is a good rule of thumb.
1) Agriculture has in many ways shaped human history. Giving examples, explain the historical
development of agriculture. What sorts of revolutions have shaped its development? Also, give
some examples of the environmental challenges posed by modern agricultural practices (for
either plants or cattle).
2) Using examples, explain how humans use natural resources (material or energy), water and
production of food in unsustainable ways. Explain how the sustainability may be measured
differently depending on the resource or the context. Make sure to include examples from all
three categories.
