Unread Evidence-based practice has become a leading guide in nursing practice and education. Achieving effective and safe care depends primarily on quality improvement methods and redesigning of health care based on evidence-based research. EBP aims to incorporate knowledge and evidence in care decisions to improve care quality and patient outcomes (Horntvedt et al., 2018). Significant deficits in health care and nursing practice cause considerable harm, which can be prevented through the use of EBP. Studies have proved the effectiveness of using evidence to inform health care practices and decisions. Health care organizations have adopted EBP, including my organization where it is applied in various ways. EBP is applied in my organization to control hospital-acquired infections. Hospital-acquired infections are the last thing any patient want to acquire when receiving treatment in a hospital. The organization has embraced evidence-based infection control methods to keep the patients safe from these infections. These include keeping the patient’s environment clean, practicing regular and correct handwashing, wearing protective clothing, and using barrier precautions (Klingbeil & Gibson, 2018). Another area where EBP is being used is with patients with COPD. Nurses follow the evidence-based practice in administering oxygen to COPD patients. This practice helps prevent conditions such as organ failure. References Horntvedt, M. E. T., Nordsteien, A., Fermann, T., & Severinsson, E. (2018).
