Review the 3 course competencies. Think about how they might directly apply to your life and work environment when answering the following questions.
Competency 1: By applying a systems thinking mindset, the student will be able to create a diagram that maps the stock, inflows, outflows, and feedback loops of an organization while building capital with their employer through communicating benefits of the MHA program.
Competency 2: By applying systems thinking, the student will be able to create a SWOT analysis and perform a Gemba walk where he or she determines three short-term and one long-term process improvement opportunities for that organization.
Competency 3: By applying systems thinking and collaboration techniques, the student will be able to create a visual diagram to help determine the cause of a problem or inefficiency within a health care system and draw conclusions about a national health care issue based on a systems thinking diagram.
Question 1:
Think of a situation in which creating a diagram that maps a health care organization’s inflows, outflows, and feedback loops would be valuable. How could you use SWOT analysis within your own organization to find areas to improve or reorganize? Provide an example, either within your work environment or in society at large, of when using systems thinking had an impact on a group’s ability to identify process improvements or draw conclusions on large problems within society.
Question 2:
What specific assignments or learning activities from this course did you find particularly beneficial? What do you feel could have improved or added to your learning experience in this course?
