Assignment 1
To begin work on your final assignment, you will complete the first piece of the puzzle. You will identify TWO communities and provide its demographic background information and COVID-19 statistics (see specifics below). These do not need to be the final communities that you choose for your paper, this is to get you all in the habit of researching your communities.
Students will address the below for EACH of the two communities they choose:
1. Community information [~1/2 pg minimum for each section below]
Demographics: Describe your community’s population. Who lives in your community? (Age, Race, ethnicity, population, religion, education etc)
COVID Statistics: COVID-19 incidence, COVID-19 mortality. Trends over time. Demographics of population infected and population who has died. Vaccination rates (Most towns, states will have a COVID19 dashboard where you can find this information.)
PART TWO
Final Assignment: “Students will choose two communities (can be local town/city, county, company, state, etc) who are tackling the COVID-19 pandemic crisis. You will choose one community that you believe is properly handling the crisis and one community that you feel is improperly handling the crisis.”
ASSIGNMENT 2
To continue working on your final assignment, you should take this time to identify communities that you may be interested in writing about. For this assignment you will identify a community that you feel has properly tacked the COVID19 pandemic. Based on the community you choose, answer the questions below. (If you decide to change communities for final project, that is ok, but please speak with the professor regarding any questions you may have)
Students will address

Discuss TWO of the “10 essential public health services” to an external site.” that you believe this community is using to properly combat the COVID19 pandemic.
For each of the functions, you should have at least 2 references to support your reasoning. These references can be from local news, however, ensure that you are using accurate sources.
