This character is made up of several parts. One of the parts is “mind” or “heart.” Therefore, having an open mind and heart is an important aspect of listening. I hope we can all listen to each other with an open heart and learn from each other. I would like discussion forums to be a place where we can have a dialogue. In a large class, you may not be able to read each student’s post carefully, but please try your best and find a few posts that interest you and participate in a dialogue.

One of the reading assignments for this week is an article on Level 5 Leadership. Read the article, contemplate on the following question, and share your thoughts. The author says that the “Good-to-Great” transformations don’t happen without Level 5 leaders. These leaders build enduring greatness through a paradoxical combination of personal humility plus professional will. Can you describe in your own words what a Level 5 leader would look like? Why do you think cultivating humility seems to be the last thing they achieve and what separates Level 4 and Level 5? Why is it so difficult?
Please also read the book chapter, Wisdom of a Leader. Do you think any of the descriptions of a wise leader relate to a Level 5 leader?
