Do you find the frame story of each collection much more interesting than the stories they connect? Or do you feel as if the stories told by the frame story enhance the frame story? Would the stories within the collection be less interesting or valuable if the frame story were removed? Imagine the films, The Titanic and The Princess Bridge, without the frame story? Imagine the Wife of Bath’s tale separated from the frame story of the narrator and the frame story of her amusing Prologue! Her tale is really a story within a story within a story! Also, both women succeed in civilizing/”taming” their husbands through their wit. Do you admire their progressive stance or do you find them (or one of them) to be overly crafty? How does each view relationships as seen through the frame of each as well as the tales they tell? Therefore, you can use the frame and the women’s tales as material to answer the questions. Use specifics to support and illustrate your viewpoint.
