1a. Dependent Variable (DV): The DV as you stated is happiness, but your plan to measure it MUST be through the Oxford Happiness Questionnaire. This is a measurement instrument/survey that you can access through the pdf instructions in the research folder.
1b. You cannot do interviews or observations you expressed. You cannot performa. case study. You must administer a survey and do a quantitative (i.e., statistics) correlational study.
2. The survey of 10 users and 10 non-users will yield survey scores, which you will use to determine the means of the two groups across the seven categories of happiness within the survey.
3. Your Independent Variable (IV) should like “social media use.” Either user or non-user. You need to define what constitutes social media use (number of platforms, hours per day, etc.). These might generate strong relationships, then simple user / non-user, and could be better IVs.
4. You explicitly expressed the null and alternate hypotheses, but did not state the hypothesis. Be sure to state this as well.
