Reboots and Remakes
Since 2015 the media industry has documented the rise of reboots, remakes and films based on known intellectual properties (books, tv shows, comic books, theme park rides). According to industry experts, “Recently the industry has seen a solid string of success born out of rebooting or upgrading content from the past. This is a risk-averse strategy. You bank on content where people already have a sense of the characters, they have a sense of what the plot is, what the story is.” and covid has only increased this fear of new stories

3. Recently Anthony Mackie, claimed the reboot and comic book movie killed the movie star. Because now instead of people going to see the new Stallone movie, Arnold movie, Tom Cruise Movie, Julia Roberts movie, its the x-men movie or avengers movie geared to teenagers and people go to see the characters–not the actors acting. Are reboots and remakes killing off the traditional movie star? Or are the movie stars not in theaters anymore?
