Discussion Topic: (please read the entire page before you begin your assignment)
The Cardiac Conduction System
The cardiac conduction system is a group of specialized cardiac muscle cells in the walls of the heart that send signals to the heart muscle causing it to contract. After reading/watching your chapter and learning materials, you should have a clear understanding about the conduction system. For this assignment, you shall look at the anatomy/physiology of the cardiac conduction system – its structure, function and clinical correlations.
Discussion Question:
In this discussion board you will do the following:
Identify and define the anatomy of the individual components involved in the conduction system. (SA node, AV node, etc.)
What is the sequence of electrical events during one full contraction of the heart muscle?
What is an artificial pacemaker?
