1. Write a poem in a poetic form this week, and make sure you identify the form in the heading (see example below)
2. The forms I recommend are as follows: sonnet, sestina, villanelle, pantoum
3. You may borrow a line or a topic from a published poem for inspiration.
4. Pay attention to meter (especially with sonnets), rhyme schemes, and refrains
5. In a separate paragraph, explain any parts of the poem that deviate or bend the intended form. Reflect, too, on the challenge of writing in a poetic form.
