PART 2 Prove Your Point Essay
This assignment is focused on the real world topic of cults and the language used to create cults.
Last week you each researched an article and turned it in to the instructor. This week you need to write a two page essay that analyzes your article (or articles) in terms of real world cults and the language used to create and sustain those cults. Your essay should have a minimum of 500 words; there is no penalty for writing more than the minimum.
For this written assignment, please include the following:
What is the definition of a cult?
Specifically, how is language used to convince people to join a cult? How is language used to convince people to stay in a cult?
What are the factors that lead someone to decide to leave a cult? What are the consequences?
Present your thesis (main points) clearly
Support your thesis with evidence from the article
Clearly restate your thesis at the end with a brief summary of the evidence that supports it
