Each essay must be at least 3 pages double spaced, with one inch margins.
Students must utilize a size 12, Times New Roman font.
Each paper must have a minimum of 3 unique sources besides class textbooks. Sources must be scholarly in nature and can include books, journals and news articles from reputable sources. While students may use internet sources, such sources must be reputable and scholarly (i.e Newspaper websites, congressional/government websites, reputable magazine websites, think tanks, library databases etc.). Random websites are not considered scholarly sources. Failure to use scholarly/reputable sources may result in a loss of points.
All essays must include in text citations, i.e. footnotes, endnotes, or parenthetical citations (choose one method of in text citations) and a works cited page/bibliography. Essays submitted without these items may not be accepted or may receive a grade penalty. Also, please be sure to review the course policy regarding plagiarism, which is available on the course syllabus and the course homepage via Blackboard.
Students must choose their essay topics from the list provided in the instructions. ** Students may also write about a topic that is not listed in the syllabus. Before doing so, the student must obtain permission from the instructor. **
When citing, students are to use the Chicago/Turabian Manual of Style. The same style of citation must be used throughout the essay.
Students are to proofread their essays to ensure it is free of spelling and grammatical errors. Points may be deducted if an essay contains numerous spelling/grammatical mistakes.
Late essays will not be accepted unless a serious reason is given. Furthermore, late essays are subject to a reduction in grade, as determined by the instructor.
