Project 2 Considerations Be sure to review the prompt. Consider formatting, citations, and organization. The prompt calls for quotes from the text. Providing a set number of quotes for a writing assignment is pedantic. Keep in mind, though, the prompt does refer to multiple quotes. Although adequate, in all probability, two or three quotes is not exceptional. The prompt calls for headers; it does not require bullets. If you do include bullets, be sure that the structure, grammar, and content are all parallel. Bullets list points related to a specific topic: a list of the parts of a whole. Images must be incorporated into the text. They should be explained and documented. Consider white space around images as you work images into the document. The purpose of the document is to inform. Headers should be distinct from body text. Incorporate a different font and font color for headers. Be sure, though, that headers do not overshadow the title. When making evaluations–“a great job”–identify, explain, and apply the criteria which determines “great.” Avoid superlatives and dead language. Project 2 The structure of Report 2 is similar to that of Report 1; the topic is different. You are reviewing videoed instructions. (I have included notes on a sample topic in the module.) Again, the paper is to be formatted as a report with headers; it is not to be formatted as an essay. Although the topic does not have to be academic, it should be appropriate for the setting. Considering the context of the writing, it is best to avoid topics that are too simple (making a sandwich) or too complex (landing a fighter jet). Technical Communication should inform your analysis of the video, as well as the structure and format of the report. The report must include quotes from the text, with the citations documenting the quotes and specific references. As you begin gathering information and drafting, remember that your audience is a person creating a set of instructions. In your audience analysis, you must identify and analyze the audience of the instructions; that audience, though, is not the audience of the report.
