Thirteen hospitals in Texas have closed since 2010, the most of any state. Tennessee has seen the second-most closures, with eight hospitals closing since 2010. In third place is Georgia with six closures followed by Alabama and Mississippi, which have each seen five hospitals close over the past six years.

Community Hospital Corporation (CHC) offers practical solutions that help community hospitals enhance efficiencies, improve quality and strengthen financial stability. CHC says, “In order for these hospitals to survive, they must deliver quality care while maintaining their own financial health. Assume that CHC hired HCA 5990 class for consulting services in healthcare. The class was asked to look into the cause/s of closure of these hospitals. What steps you would take to assess the health of these hospitals?
During the 6th week of the class I will open the discussion one at a time. Each one of you are expected to post an answer (no more than a short paragraph) to the discussion post, without which you will not be able to see the post from other students. You are also expected to comment on another student’s post. Once posted each discussion would have 2-3 days for you to answer and post your comment/s. One completed, you can compile your final exam written report using the information from the discussion posts. Participating in the discussions alone is not sufficient to complete the final exam. You are expected to submit your own report (3-5-page report, double spaced and 12 font size) by compiling information from the discussion posts. (Please note these hospitals are closed.
