Assignment Objective: Discuss the differing views of culturally diverse people practices within health care, and how nursing care that is cultural competent is important.
Assignment: Perform an internet search for a culture that is different from your own (be sure to reference the definition of culture from your text book in Chapter 11). Using the information you’ve found (be sure to reference it in your reference list!), discuss an aspect of the culture that you may find difficult to address while caring for a patient from that culture. Then discuss how you would use cultural competence to overcome that difficulty.
For your responses to your peers, choose others who has chosen a different culture than you chose, and then state if you agree or disagree with their approach. If you are of the culture someone has chosen, you are encouraged to give them feedback on whether you think their approach at cultural competence would work and why.
