Your writing sample helps us assess whether your writing skills are up to the challenge of graduate coursework in our department. We like to see samples that show your ability to analyze a problem, develop a thesis, and work with primary and/or secondary sources.
Topic of the paper: In 1980, Burton Clark reconsidered his theory of the cooling out function of the community college in response to use and abuse of the concept since its inception in the 1960s. Almost four decades later, is Clarks theory still useful for understanding the role of community colleges? How might the concept be revisited today? Please consider current research on credentialing and the changing needs of a knowledge society.
