Purpose:
The purpose of this assignment is to gauge students’ comprehensive knowledge of the content presented this semester, based on the example of the Hero’s Journey. The visual below and the video provided at the beginning of the semester can help you focus on steps/stages of the journey you identify with! Keep in mind that there are numerous youtube videos and google images that can help you understand and identify specific steps/stages as well!
Directions:
In an MLA Standard document of approximately 4 pages, please create an argumentative essay that describes your Hero’s Journey in this class.
Introduction:
a) Define and discuss the Hero’s Journey in detail, using your own words.
b)Create a thesis with 3 specific steps/stages/parts that best articulate your journey in this class.
Body Arguments- For each specific step you identified, please do the following:
a)Identify the specific step/stage of the Hero’s Journey you will discuss(1 of 3).
b) Provide specific examples of this stage based on your learning experiences in the class
c) Discuss in detail what you specifically learned and how it clearly articulates the Hero’s Journey in your own personal, educational journey.
Conclusion:
Because this is merely one class in your educational journey, discuss how the universal narrative of the Hero’s Journey:
Fits in with another class you are taking
Fits in with your long-term educational goals
Fits in with your personal life and life-long goals
Teacher’s Note: I expect you to study several visual representations of the Hero’s Journey. You may look for basic definitions for each step or stage you identify in your thesis, in order to better understand and use the step accurately in your essay and apply it to your educational journey. I also expect you to use the knowledge you gained in this class in order to inform your process, organization, and editing and revision of this document/argumentative essay.
