Harvard offers first year college applicants the option to submit a supplementary essay that gives them the chance to get Harvard to know them better.
Click on the link below to see how a college applicant wrote the essay in the past (beautifully written!!).

Hint: I’ve prepared a simple draft of what the college applicant (a 17th year old girl) would wish her future college roommate to know about her. Once again, it’s just a draft so feel free to use it as model or not. As you can see only 4 character traits have been highlighted in this draft. We need to ADD at least 2 more.
If you take a look at the Harvard model, you will see that the introduction is well written. Mine on the other hand is simple and needs to be adjusted/re-written. Same thing for the conclusion.
So be bold, be creative and make it stand.
Dear future roommate,
If your ideal roommate is not someone who sleeps early, has no sense of humor, is aloof and all around dull then we’re going to get along just fine.
I am absolutely NONE of those things. Here’s a list of the things I am:
A great conversationalist. I’ll talk your head off about my latest pastimes–mentoring, virtual reality games and clay making–and hopefully get you interested. I can’t wait to hear about your passion. Other people’s interests always offer me a good opportunity to expand my knowledge. If I ever talk too much about the latest findings in neuroscience, feel free to let me know. I’m not the type to get offended. I’m respectful of others privacy.
A music lover. I have an eclectic taste in music although for the moment, I prefer listening to Indie pop songs. I will be happy to share my playlists with you if interested. I hope this works the other way around too. Speaking of music, you’ll often hear me humming my favorite songs while writing research papers. If I happen to hum one of your favorite songs then don’t be shy and join me. Who knows, we might enjoy the experience so much that we could end up launching fun girls’ karaoke nights at our dorm once a month;
An extrovert and outdoor enthusiast! Hope you wouldn’t mind joining me on late night 7-Eleven runs to get Slurpees and laughing as we walk back to our dorm. Sounds like an exciting girls’ night out in my books! However, if strolling around campus late at night isn’t your cup of tea then, we can have picnics on the grass in a nearby park or meet at a cafe for a quick lunch;
Responsible and tidy. Don’t worry, I am not a clean freak! That being said, I do enjoy living in a clean environment. I’m sure you wouldn’t want to see bugs or rodents invading our space either, right? Let’s agree to clean up after ourselves and keep each other safe by simply locking the door when no one else is in the room.
I hope to build a close and lasting friendship with you.
