Throughout your major program(s), you have developed knowledge and skills that relate to or contribute to your ability to engage, encourage, and lead others. Through collaboration activities, such as team or group activities, you have furthered your knowledge and skills in followership and leadership. As you complete your major program(s), it is important that you take stock of your strengths and areas for improvement in followership and leadership related to your current or desired professional field and role.This Leadership and Followership project is designed to help you accomplish this task. The Leadership and Followership Project has two parts: a Research Study, for which you prepare an annotated bibliography as well as a short paper, both due in Unit 1. The Unit 1 assigned readings and preparation activities are about the development of leadership and followership skills and will help you complete not only this project but also assignments in each week thereafter.
Part 1. Research Study(due in Unit 1)
This part of the project focuses upon conducting research to identify the various traits and styles associated with Leadership and Followership and their relationship with each other. To begin this research, read the following three articles and include information gained from these articles in this project:
1. Teaching Followership in Leadership Education(Raffo, 2013):
(See attaced PDF with same title)
2. Leading and Following: The Co-Construction of Leadership(Beckley, J., 2020):
(see attached PDF with same title)
3. The Value of Followership(Gobble, M., 2017):
(see attached PDF with same title)
After reviewing the Unit 1 reading and preparation materials, and building upon the above four source materials, continue your research in scholarly and professional journals to deepen your understanding of the accepted principles of Leadership, Followership, and the relationship between them. Include in your research study at least 3 additional peer-reviewed sources and 3 additional credible sources. You may consult the Purdue Online Writing Laboratory article Using Research and Evidence ( ) to help you identify credible sources to support your study. All sources you consult during your research for your study must have been written and published within the past ten (10) years. Note: D2. Describe the relationship between Leadership and Followership. Use your own words, synthesized from your research findings with appropriate citations for the concepts, facts, and ideas revealed in your research.
