A Hallmark of Aging
Visit a store (or an area of a store) that sells greeting cards. Peruse the cards available for birthdays. Be sure to look at many cards, noticing trends, if possible. What do you notice about the number of cards available that indicate, in one way or another that they are for specific ages? Do you notice any for midlife birthdays? Birthdays for older folks? If so, what are the messages that are contained in these cards? Is ageism an issue in the card industry? What are some take-aways from your exploration?
