One only needs to look at a classical concert program to see the Romantic Period’s continuing influence. More than any other musical era, this music continues to inspire, whether it is the ballet music of Tchaikovsky, the piano music of Chopin and Schumann, the lieder of Schubert, the orchestral music of Brahms or the operas of Verdi and Wagner. Why do you think this is the case? What is it about music composed during this era that has shown it to be so popular and influential more than a century later?
