Discussion Assignment:
1) Violence in the workplace is multi-faceted: the two main types of workplace violence are referred to as horizontal or lateral violence (incivility and/or bullying), a phenomenon we find that exists between nurses (or between nurses and other health care workers) and workplace violence other than that which occurs between nurses. Nurses and other health care workers face potential aggression and violent acts from patients and/or family members as well.

In your discussion talk about your experience with this in your practice environment, either as a direct experience or a specific incident that you have knowledge of. What is the policy in your facility regarding either form of workplace violence?
