First, read the letter from the Citizens of Norfolk, Virginia, the letter from Jourdan Anderson in The American Yawp Reader, the American Yawp textbook Chapter 15 on Reconstruction, and watch the PBS series Reconstruction: America After the Civil War. Then, write an essay on the readings and the PBS series. What surprised you when reading these documents and watching the series? What interested you about these sources?
