1. Piaget
You have been invited to accompany a class of first graders to the children’s museum, a parent volunteer approaches you with one of the children in hand and says, “I caught this one shoplifting!”
Using Piaget’s theories, how do you handle this situation? What do you say to the parent? What do you say to the child? How can Piaget’s theories help explain what has happened?
2. Vygotsky
Many classrooms across the US expect students not to “socialize” with others during their class time. What would Vygotsky think of this general practice/rule? Why?
