Your choice can be based on interest alone or it might be relevant to your field of study at university and/or your future profession. Write a 1,500 word essay. Research peer reviewed literature to find out about the social movement. Make an argument about the effectiveness of this social movement to create positive social change and/or to challenge injustice or inequality.

Choose ONE historical or contemporary ‘social movement’ of interest to you your choice will fit the definition of a social movement (see your weekly topic, lectures and readings and please check with your lecturer if you are not sure. Possibilities include but are not limited to: the Environmental/Climate Justice Movement, Women’s Movement, Black Rights Matter Movement, Labour Movement, LGBTI / Gay Rights Movement(s), Disability Rights Movement, Indigenous Rights Movement, Animal Rights Movement, etc.
