Our last module considers social movements and policies promoting ways out of the environmental crises we face. Your final essay will focus on one arena to research, name the problem, and share your strategies for solving the problems related to food & agriculture, climate, environmental racism, insect collapse, waste, urban resilience or another of your choosing. You will give concrete examples of solutions being pursued and strategies taken, with your evaluation of what needs to be done. You can consider the role of social movements in promoting solutions and build knowledge of what the major environmental groups are doing in your area. You can evaluate the strength and weaknesses of municipalities in solving the problem if that is of interest. You will have interim deadlines over the course of the semester to help you write this essay.
