Please place your bids Mini-Manuscript (1500 words), Physiotherapy Research in Practice module This assignment has been designed as a way of reporting the mini-project (I have not done this study actually, but we have been given the data from the University). The structure of the assignment will be the same as a short report for a journal article. 1. Title Page Title of research Primary author details Word count 2. Abstract (new page) Maximum of 250 words (words do not count to the 1500 total). Structured or unstructured is up to you. If structured you will need the following subheadings, if unstructured you will need to include information that relates to the following subheadings. Aim: a sentence to describe the aim of your research. Participants and Setting: identified the individual involved and the acquisition set-up. Procedure: identify briefly what procedure has been executed. Outcome Measure: identify the outcome measure used. Key results: identify key results obtained. Conclusion: conclude in a sentence or two what the findings show. Keywords: identify 5 keywords that illustrate your study 3. Introduction Why the research is needed: in two paragraphs identify the significance of your research and why your research is needed. You may like to consider what is known, what is not known and why your research is needed. At the end of the section summarise your aim, purpose or question. 4. Materials and Methods Identify the following key points: Participants Eligibility criteria for participants. Settings and locations where the data were collected. Procedure The studied motor task with sufficient details to allow replication. Outcomes Define primary outcome measure (and justification). Statistical methods Statistical methods are used to compare groups for primary outcomes. 5. Results Please present key findings from your study. Please consider the need for descriptive data about the sample as well as analysis around the results based on an outcome measure. 6. Brief Discussion Consider the overall impact of your work in a couple of sentences. Consider the key findings, for any key finding consider how do they relate to other findings, is there anything that can explain them e.g., mechanisms behind them or factors which influence the outcome and what further research could be undertaken. 7. Limitations and Clinical Implications Please consider very briefly the exact clinical implications of your research. Please list each implication in a brief way. Please consider the limitations of your work. 8. Conclusion Please provide a very brief conclusion regarding your research. 9. References Please reference key points that you need to justify. For instance, the reader needs to know that this is a needed piece of work so references to support this are required. Your choice of methods and any key decisions e.g. data analysis requires justification so this is a key section where references are needed. Try not to bring in new concepts into your discussion that you have not considered within your introduction, however it is ok to expand concepts or consider how or why the results you have obtained occurred by using new references. References in text Please use the Harvard reference system (right cite Harvard). Word limit The 1500 word limit does not include the reference list, the abstract, tables and figures caption. The abstract can be up to 250 words. Presentation Please keep the abstract as a single-spaced text and the main text as double spaced for submission. Please use font Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri or Cambria. Size 12 front. Please consider using tables, pictures, graphs and figures to illustrate your findings.
