The definition of social change emerged from the data and the qualitative research process. Social change is a transformation of cultures, institutions, organizations, and individuals in response to the society’s inequalities, discrimination, disenfranchisement, underprivileged, and marginalization of minorities and other groups that are not considered the dominant or privileged groups. Walden Scholar-practitioners leverage academic education and research to advocate for the unfortunate of society and assist with solving problems in the local community, national, and international. My problem statement is This study addresses the problem that emotional intelligence as a selected strategy for NCLEX-RN success on the first attempt as perceived by the prelicensure nurse is limited in the literature. Nurse-patient relationships are a fundamental competence in professional nursing (Culha et al., 2018). The ability of the nurse to perceive, use, understand and manage one’s emotions and the feeling of the patient directly affects the care provided. Understanding this relationship will equip and empower the prelicensure nurse to select emotional intelligence as an NCLEX-RN success strategy on the first attempt. The acquisition of emotional intelligence knowledge and skills will empower and impact the prelicensure success strategy. The next step in the dissertation process continues to develop the research knowledge and skills, follow the doctoral degree coach planner and continue to develop skills essential for completion of the doctoral program. This author anticipates an advanced qualitative research course and employing qualitative methodology for the future research project recognizing the interactive process. Career planning is always a projection for academic employment. Su (2014) conducted a quantitative descriptive study in which findings suggest postdoctoral training increase research scientist chances of obtaining a faculty position. Faculty position and tenure represent milestones in doctorally prepared nurses. The horizontal value in the qualitative process demonstrates intentional engagement throughout the process. Criticality identifies and denormalizes dominance and power symmetries associated with marginalized communities. Criticality requires researchers to engage in critical reflectivity. Reflexivity is the systematic self-assessment of researcher identity, positionality, biases, assumptions, and subjectivities. Collaboration systematic engagement with the participants, advisors, colleagues, peers, and mentors for a range of perspectives on the research. Rigor in the research process is to remain faithful to methodologies while attentive to the participant and exhibiting self-awareness. These values contribute to the quality and validity of the study. Interviewing is the most frequently used method for data collection in qualitative research. Although interviewing differs across disciplines, questions remain the central (Carins-Lee, 2022). Rubin and Rubin (2012) advocate qualitative research for in-depth, detail, and richness of the collected data that tell the stories of the participants in their natural setting.
