The research topic has to do with masculinity in Vikings and Nordic history, from primary sources from JSTOR. All sources has to be found through JSTOR, and the research topic has to be masculinity in Viking culture. I would prefer at least 2 sources from JSTOR.
Below is the guideline set by my professor:
Research Paper on Medieval Topic or Appraisal of Contemporary Appropriation (aprox. 2500 words): 30% May 7th.)
This is a research paper, so it should be based primarily on materials not assigned in the course.
To find such materials, you should do research through the library or its related electronic resources for all secondary source works, that is works of scholarship.
For primary sources, you may use data sources linked through the course moodle, such as the saga database or the skaldic database. Consult with the professor about other sources you might come upon.
Topics should be from the medieval period we have studied or might be appropriations or interpretations of Viking-Norse medieval material in the early modern, modern or contemporary times.
