(1) Explain what position you think a utilitarian, a libertarian, and a Rawlsian would
advocate about your chosen issue, and make clear why each of those views would
take those positions. Note that this will require you to explain to your reader
some about each of these three different philosophical views.
(
2) Evaluate the reasons given each of the three views on your issue. Do you think
they reach the correct conclusion(s)? More importantly, do you think the reasons
they give are good reasons with regard to the issue at hand? Why or why not?
(3) Explain for your reader in some detail what your position on the issue is.
(4) Provide the most compelling reasons you can think of to support your position.
a. Imagine that your reader disagrees with you but is open to be persuaded;
try to provide an argument that might bring such a reader to your side.
b. Again, research may be required to offer adequate support for your
position (or even to formulate your position in the first place).
c. Do NOT neglect this component of the assignment. The argument for
your position should occupy a significant portion of the paper.
Specific Requirements:
• Your paper should be doubled-spaced and roughly between 1400 and 1800 words.
• You must use and cite at least two (properly authoritative) sources.
