Create a 15-20 slide research project by the end of this course that explores the way in which race and ethnicity get represented in a film and its historical context. You may choose to write about any race/ethnicity, but you need to ensure that you have a narrow enough topic that you aren’t making sweeping generalizations without grounding your research in historical particulars. One of the easiest ways to go about this is to choose a particular type of film OR a time period that you wish to explore. For example, you could explore the ways in which mob/ gangster films portray Italian Americans in the 1930s, or you could look at representations of Italian Americans in recent war films. For this project, you will need a minimum of three sources, all of which should have been included in your annotated bibliography.
