INSTRUCTIONS
For Module 6: Week 6, you will find a primary source reflecting on European genocide
in the 20th century. This must be a first-hand account of someone who experienced
genocide or perpetuated it. An example here would be a prisoner at Auschwitz or a guard
that was responsible for interning prisoners at Auschwitz. It may reflect the Holocaust,
Armenian Genocide, purges of the Soviet Union, or that in Bosnia in the 1990s.
 Your bibliographic entry and any citations you provide must be in Turabian format.
 If you quote material or reference specific information to support your argument you
must cite. This must be done in note format and any sources you use outside of your
primary source must be entered on a reference page.
 Only primary sources that meet the criteria for the Module are acceptable.
you will complete the Primary Source Template. It contains questions that are designed to guide you through the
process of contextualizing, corroborating, and making sense of the primary sources of the past.
While you should answer the questions, you do not have to answer every single question in each
prompt. Use them to guide your own analysis. Use them to guide the spirit of each section:
Sourcing, contextualization, corroborating, and close reading. However, you will answer all of
the areas of the form.
You will find your own sources, but you have access to several starting points to search. This is
done intentionally so that you get accustomed to finding your own primary sources for your own
historical investigations. Note you have available databases to start, but note you are not limited
to these sources. You are only limited by topic of the week and being a relevant primary source
to the specific time period.

 For Module 3: Week 3, you will select some primary source that characterizes the change
from 19th to 20th century Europe. This can be propaganda, letters, books, newspaper
articles (though you may need a range of these), or political pamphlets to show the
