Clarify your research question
Using the social issue selected for the Literature Review, devise a (or series of) hypothesis (es) the proposed research will test in the methodology. (***Only if using quantitative research***)
Identify a social theory that informs the hypotheses by searching journals/and or textbook for social theory research on this issue. At least 3 research sources should support the social theory. Bring it in from Literature review if you got it.
The social theory should be used to provide the support for the research hypothesis being tested and to inform the hypothesis. (***Only if using quantitative research***)
Research Design
Select a quantitative or qualitative research design and the research category that best fits the question you seek to explore.
Explain which is the most useful type of research design and category for the particular social issue and defend the choice. What is your rationale?
Include the research philosophy and scientific reasoning that will be used, and the causal model of explanation. (***Only if using quantitative r
Explain the population that will be source of your data. What is the population you are targeting for your research project?
Present the proposed sample method, the size and the sample and the feasibility of the sample.
Explain what techniques you will use to ensure diversity in the sample.
Note importance of language and cultural diversity in instruments.
Data Collection
Explain what will be the method that you will use to collect the data.
Are you using surveys, interviews, observations? Clarify that here.
Provide a sample interview guide with instruments and questions to be used for collecting the data in the methodology.
Protection of human subjects
Potential challenges for conduct of study
Analysis
Explain what methods or tools you will be using to analyze the data.
