You must carry out a research project that involves the quantitative assessment of publications in a peer-reviewed anthropology journal. First, you need to identify an academic journal related to the sub-discipline of anthropology you are interested in and
ensure full-text access is available through the UBC Library. Second, you should determine research questions you would like to examine, such as research themes and trends, changing keywords, theories, methods, techniques, and author profiles (such as gender). Third, you need to collect and code data and create datasets for quantitative analysis. It is essential to consider the number of years to be covered and sampled to address your research questions sufficiently. Forth, you write a project report about data collection (data sources, datasets, and how data are sampled and collected), statistical methods used in your work, results of quantitative analysis, and their meaning and significance for the subject or scholarship you intend to investigate. In addition, you are highly encouraged to discuss your findings in the context of what you have learned about anthropology in other courses.
Your research project report must be 10-12 pages
(12-pitch fonts and double-spaced) in length, not
counting the bibliography and title pages, figures not included
