Assignment: Write a literary analysis on the theme of appearance vs. reality in Shakespeare’s Othello. You must use literary devices from the text as evidence, including allusions and symbols, or any others covered in your textbook. Think about what deeper meaning you can extract from the text, what it says about the human experience in literature, and why it matters. Use keywords. You must use quotes from the text to support your thesis. This is an essay in which you need to make an argument about the literature in a solid thesis statement and carry it through the rest of the paper with body paragraphs to support your argument and a conclusion.

Use only one space after periods. Margins should be 1in. Use footnotes rather than end notes. Double space between the title and the first line of the text. Follow MLA guidelines except for what I have noted to be different.

Turnitin: Your paper will be submitted to Turnitin. If you submit and receive feedback that indicates portions of your paper are plagiarized, you must fix those portions and submit again. On the first day that you submit, you may submit twice in that 24-hour period. Every day after that, you are allowed one submission every 24 hours. Plan accordingly.
