Directions:
1) Find two urban public spaces: one space that functions well for people and another that does not.
The spaces can be indoors or outdoors. The spaces you choose must be places where people
interact.
2) Take photos of the two places and present your photos.
3) Using the photos explain why the one space works well and why the other does not work well.
4) Things to consider for your photos: benches, tables, doors, entrance and exit ways, hallways,
walkways, nature (trees, flowers, shrubs), the amount of open space, etc.
5) Things to consider and present: Do people seem to be comfortable in the spaces? What
influences this? What should change to improve the space that does not work well?
6) All work must be your own and original.
7) Do not do research online. Use your own thinking and ideas.
8) Include unique, interesting, and relevant support to inform the audience.
9) The presentation is 2 – 5 minutes long. Your presentation should not be less than 2 minute.
